UNDERSTANDING DATA How we do business here at the Mississippi Storm Center: This page is designed to be a partial explanation of the data that is available on this website. If you have questions feel free to contact through our email account. Weather - our latest readings arranged by Weather Underground; Add the following code to your website to display the weather sticker:
If you decide to use this sticker just send us a note letting us know and we will give you a link back. About - simply a description of who we are and what we do Weather Warnings - issued by the NWS these warnings may be critical to life and property. With threatening weather check the warnings often. Live Lake Cams - these are four cams which look in the 4 directions of the compass; the cams are located on location; click on the green triangle for streaming video or click on the green triangle with the speaker icon for live video and audio - hear the birds, wind, thunder in real live time. Pullman Pt. Current Weather - our Lacrosse 2310 weather station connects with sensors at the end of the dock in the lake to record wind, temp, relative humidity, baro, etc. The page also pulls data from around the area and gives the current radar, infrared sat imaging, and the forecast. We intend to replace the Lacrosse unit sometime in the near future as it is prone to glitches in data accuracy (frankly we would never buy another Lacrosse unit due to the lack of service and support). The Lacrosse unit is supplemented on site by numerous other instruments we have which are not fed directly to the internet. Pullman Pt Current Graphs - based on Lacrosse instrumentation this shows the info in a chart based format. Pullman Pt Detailed Readings - based on the Lacrosse instrumentation this shows lists of readings Pullman Pt Detailed Reports - base on the Lacrosse instrumentation this shows reports of the data Pullman Pt EMF Burst - this is a record in wav format of special recording sessions; when intense storm fronts are scheduled to hit the recording system is activated. Pullman Pt EMF Magnetic - this shows the latest magnetic and electrical activity sum in 24 hours segments; our magnetic recording intrumentation is one of 6 systems in the United States. Pullman Pt EMF Spectrum - this shows a section of the EMF window in live time; our sensors are listening to the surrounding area up to 500 miles distance; the display shows activity of the electronic signatures of approaching storms. Pullman Pt EMF Spectrum 3D - Brand new and about to be online for public viewing - this shows a section of electro magnetic field activity through our sensor pickups listening to the surrounding area up to 500 miles distance; the display shows activity of the electronic signatures of approaching storms in 3D! Our patented weather warning system can track tornados using a triangulation system and predict the storm course; our eventual goal will be weather modification in order to save lives and property. Tornado origination point and funnel identified by our Pullman Geosciences Inc. patented weather warning system:
Pullman Pt Latest WXFAX - latest weather maps from the National Hurrican Center in Miami, Fl received over short wave transmissions and decoded by our equipment. In the case of internet failure (these are available via the internet) we have our own copies of the latest transmitted information. Pullman Pt Latest WXSAT - latest weather pictures received from various polar orbiting weather satellites in approaches over the facility. Pullman Pt Gamma Radiaton - Soon to be available for public viewing - this shows the latest gamma radiation counts of the surrounding atmosphere. Our system has been in house operating for the past two years and we have discovered the increase of radiation generated in severe thunder storms. This new display server will allow the public to see the information in real time. BLOG - latest happenings around the research facility and area; get the inside info and weather pics here. Note: in our region of Mississippi we may go in search of Tstorms, however we do not go in search of tornados directly, due to the limitations of the highway system in the state....translation: if we had to get out of the way of a tornado our options are very limited (dangerous in other words); unlike the prairies or tornado alley, roads and terrain in MS prevent rapid extraction from an area. Furthermore one has to ask which storms do you go after? That is why we have spent considerable time and effort in designing long range sensors to tell us exactly what is approaching. When we have defined an approaching system we make a go or no go decision based on facts, terrain, and the ability to get out of the way of damaging weather. You can't research a storm with or without delivered instrumentation if you are injured or under attack from Mother Nature. Individuals on our teams have over 40 years of individual storm analysis and storm chasing with a combined total of roughly130 years of experience.
